EGFR+ UK is now

EGFR+ Lung Cancer UK

A new name and a new identity. This kit brings our logo, colours, type and words together in one place. Everything here is live: copy a colour, try a typeface, download a logo, check a sentence before you publish it.

What has changed

Who we are

EGFR+ Lung Cancer UK is a community built by and for people affected by EGFR+ lung cancer. We exist so that no one has to face EGFR+ lung cancer alone.

Why we exist

We bring people together, share clear and reliable information, and support individuals and families through diagnosis, treatment and life beyond cancer. We work alongside clinicians, researchers and partners to improve care, understanding and outcomes.

The change we are working towards

A future where people with EGFR+ lung cancer:

  • are diagnosed earlier and start treatment sooner
  • receive fair, consistent care wherever they live in the UK
  • feel informed and confident when making decisions about their care
  • are connected to others who understand what they are facing
  • benefit from lung cancer charities working together, not in silos

Community

We are led by lived experience and shared understanding. Support is strongest when people are not alone.

Fairness

Access to care, information and support should not depend on postcode, background or circumstance.

Trust

We share accurate, evidence based information and are open and honest in how we work.

Confidence

Information empowers. We help people feel informed, prepared and able to speak up.

Working together

Progress happens when communities, clinicians, researchers and charities work side by side.

Colour

Five master colours, with white in support. Select a colour to copy its HEX code.

How we use them

  • Purple carries headings, text and strong backgrounds
  • Green is for highlights and buttons, with purple text on top
  • Teal is an accent, and works for large text only
  • Lilac and warm neutral are for tints, panels and page backgrounds
  • White is our supporting colour, for backgrounds and for text on purple

HEX, RGB or CMYK

HEX and RGB are for screens. CMYK values are approximate conversions for print, and a printer may adjust them to suit its press, material or colour profile.

Combinations that are readable

Each pairing is measured against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. Normal text needs a contrast ratio of 4.5 to 1. Large text, 24 pixels and over, needs 3 to 1.

Type

Two typefaces. Mulish for headings, buttons and labels. Lora for anything people sit and read. Both are free from Google Fonts.

Mulish

Mulish comes in a range of weights, from light to black. Use them as appropriate: lighter weights for labels and short text, bolder weights for headings and emphasis. Sentence case, never all capitals.

Lora

Regular for body text, with generous line spacing. Keep lines to around 70 characters so they are comfortable to read.

Language

The words we choose affect how people feel about their diagnosis, how they are treated and whether they ask for support. We follow the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) Language Guide, used across the global lung cancer community.

Person first

People are not defined by a diagnosis. We say people living with EGFR+ lung cancer.

No blame

Nobody causes or deserves lung cancer, and people do not fail treatment. Treatments stop working.

No stigma

Lung cancer affects people of all ages, backgrounds and smoking histories. We do not centre smoking status.

Inclusive and equitable

Our words should include everyone affected, whatever their background or circumstances.

Say this, not that

Check your wording

Paste a sentence, a post or a paragraph. We will highlight anything that goes against this guide and suggest what to say instead.

This is a quick check for common terms. It does not replace reading your words through with the person on the other side in mind.

Voice

How we sound, whoever we are speaking to.

Inclusion and accessibility

Everything we publish should be easy for everyone to read, understand and use.

Culturally inclusive

We respect the cultural diversity of our community. We avoid stereotypes and reflect the varied backgrounds of the people we serve.

Accessible

We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines so that our digital content works for people with disabilities. Use the readable colour combinations above, add text descriptions to images and caption video.

Compassionate

Every interaction is guided by empathy. We listen actively and respond thoughtfully, so that what we say supports as well as informs.
